1 - The famous Irish writer, poet and playwright is visited frequently by fans and his work is still being read throughout the world today, 100 years after his death 2 - Burried in Seattle’s Lakeview Cemetery in 1973, his plot draws people from around the world including three Mongolians who trekked 3,700 miles to honor him on the 53rd anniversary of his birth. 3 - The superintendent of the cemetery says that he estimates 2,000 to 3,000 visitors a year go to visit this author's plot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, New York, 175 years after his birth. 2010 marked the 125th anniversary of the publishing of one of his most famous novels. 4 - He moved to Palm Springs, California where he died and was buried at Desert Memorial Park in 1998 with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a pack of camel cigarettes. 5 - Buried at the Spencer-family estate in North Hampshire, once a year, between July and early September, visitors are granted the opportunity to visit the grave although no one is allowed to set foot on the island, the path to the island’s entry is lined with 36 birch trees, one for every year of her life. 6 - In 2009, the crypt directly above hers in the Los Angeles Cemetery sold on eBay for auction at offer of $4.6 million 47 years after her death. 7 - Buried in 1971 at Pere-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, a cemetery that was established in 1804 by Napoleon Bonaparte. Although many other famous musicians and writiers are buried there, this grave takes the place as the most visited plot on the cemetary grounds. 8 - His gravesite was moved to his estate due to attempts of vandals to steal the body. Admission is paid by over 600,000 people a year to visit the grave in Tennessee. 9 - His grave is covered by a flat stone that bears an epitaph believed to be written by him reading, Good friend, for Jesus’ sake forebear To dig the dust enclosed here; Blessed be the man that spares these stones And curst be he that moves my bones 10 - Entombed on September 3, 2009 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA, the gravesite was opened to the public on June 25, 2010 to allow fans to pay their tribute to him.
